TORONTO, CANADA – 23 September 2019 – “DeafGPS”, an investigative mini-doc series exploring issues impacting global deaf communities, was launched during XVIII World Congress hosted by World Federation of the Deaf in Paris, France in July.
The five-part DeafGPS series focuses on hot button issues that impact Deaf communities – how recognition of Sign Language benefits them; the need for Media Representation; finding work or opportunities and keeping ahead; the usefulness of International Sign; and exploring the future of Deaf communities. All five reports will stream on H3world.tv and through its social media platforms.
Dawn Jani Birley hosts the DeafGPS series which features interviews with Deaf professionals, community leaders and people on the front lines making a difference around the world in diverse fields. It was produced by H3 Network Media Alliance, an international media broadcasting network based in Canada that produces and streams original video programming in International Sign with English closed captions on H3 World TV.
“We produced this DeafGPS series as part of our daily coverage at World Congress in Paris,” says Hannah Reisman, H3 World TV president, “we wanted to explore in depth hot button issues affecting Deaf people everywhere, and be a part of the dialogue that Deaf communities need to engage in.”
Founded in 2009, H3 Network Media Alliance is a charitable organization whose mission is to enlighten, empower, and unite the global Deaf community by producing and broadcasting online comprehensive current affairs and cultural programming.
